Week 1: Carnival of the Animals
July 6–9
9:15am–12:00pm
Explore the rhythm and personality of the animal kingdom! Each day, students embody new creatures from Camille Saint-Saëns’ Carnival of the Animals, discovering how lions, turtles, fish, and birds move and express themselves through space, action, and gesture. Over the week, students design and construct a wearable animal costume, delighting in the process of bringing their character to life. Activities in dance, music, and art nurture observation, creative thinking, and imaginative expression in every young artist.
Week 2: Favorite Fairy Tales
July 13–16
9:15am–12:00pm
Step into a world of favorite fairy tales! Through dance, students bring to life the enchanting characters of Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella, Coppélia, and Swan Lake. Over the week, each child will design and build their own miniature fairy garden, complete with a fairy or elf house and plants to take home. Activities in dance, music, and art spark creativity, imagination, and joy in every young artist.
Week 3: Winter in July
July 20–23
9:15am–12:00pm
Experience the magic of winter through ballet! Dancers twirl like snowflakes and skate across imaginary ice while exploring winter ballets such as The Snow Queen, Les Patineurs, and The Nutcracker. Over the week, each dancer will build a three-dimensional winter ballet shadow box with natural branches and mixed media. Activities in dance, music, and art spark creativity, imagination, and joy in every young artist.
