Fashion Immersion takes place on the Walnut Hill School for the Arts campus in Natick, MA, outside of Boston. Both Day and Boarding options are available. Read on below for more details!

PROGRAM OVERVIEW

  • The fashion immersion course will unite conceptual apparel illustration skills with practical construction skills, teaching students to consider the end goal as they explore their creativity.
  • The morning will focus on vision and strategy, while the afternoon will focus on implementation.
  • At the end of the course, students will have completed a 5-piece illustrated collection and one garment from their illustration.
  • Garments and illustrations will be photographed for an online fashion slideshow.
  • Both Day and Boarding options are available.

APPLICATION DETAILS

Though there is no portfolio requirement for acceptance, we would like to see a sample of your work so that we can tailor project levels in advance. Please submit 4–6 fashion sketches and a picture of a garment. Emphasis should be on the details of the garment and your personal aesthetic. Any body type you prefer to work with. 10 head figure not required. Use of croquis is permissible.

Have you made a garment you’re proud of? Upcycled, from a store-bought pattern, or from scratch. Send a picture. We’d love to see it! Let us know if you made it on your own or had some help.

ABOUT THE FACULTY

Stephanie Macklin is a textile professional with over 20 years experience across multiple industries including theater, fashion, interior design, and home décor. She has been teaching textile arts since 2015, and is an enthusiastic supporter of arts based education. B.F.A, Massachusetts College of Art.

 

 

 

Walnut Hill School for the Arts reserves the right to cancel a course that fails to meet the required minimum enrollment. All payments are due in full at the time of registration and non-refundable. Refunds will only be issued in the event of program cancellation due to low enrollment.
