Jazz & Contemporary Musical Arts

Our Jazz and Contemporary Musical Arts students develop the critical artistic and technical skills they need to thrive as ensemble members and soloists.

The program features a comprehensive curriculum including Jazz Theory, Jazz Ensembles, Jazz Workshop and other music classes on campus during the week. Additional programming is provided at New England Conservatory Preparatory School on Saturdays, including Private Lessons, Jazz Combo, Jazz Ear Training, Jazz History and Jazz Styles. Students in this program learn to adopt many approaches to improvisation, perform in myriad contemporary styles, lead ensembles, and create their own arrangements and compositions. Performances both on and off campus help students gain confidence as performers while learning how to interact effectively with audiences.

Graduates from this program have go on to prestigious music schools including New England Conservatory, Berklee College of Music, and The New School, with majors ranging from Jazz Performance to Contemporary Improvisation to Music Business.
