How do English and history classes fit at a school for the arts?

Perfectly.

A good artist is a thinking artist: one who observes carefully, thinks flexibly and creatively, and demonstrates persistence in the face of complexity and ambiguity. These habits of mind are central to both the arts and the humanities. Through the study of great literature in English and a range of historical periods and sources in history, we train students to think critically and write powerfully. Our humanities elective courses allow students to explore subjects such as art history and psychology, applying their critical thinking and observational skills to new areas of learning and experience.
