Leah Weiser '26: YoungArts & Presidential Scholar

We are thrilled to celebrate Writing, Film & Media Arts senior Leah Weiser ‘26, who has received a YoungArts National Award with Distinction in Writing/Play or Script—one of the highest honors awarded by the prestigious YoungArts organization.

Selected from thousands of applicants across the country, Leah was invited to National YoungArts Week 2026, where the nation’s most accomplished young artists come together for an intensive week of mentorship, collaboration, and performance. As a part of this extraordinary honor, Leah presented a live reading of her original play in Miami, FL. Watch it on the WFMA Instagram page.

As a result of this honor from YoungArts, Walnut Hill was able to nominate Leah as a U.S. Presidential Scholar in the Arts, and we are excited to share that she has been selected as a candidate. Congratulations, Leah!
