Walnut Hill School for the Arts

Actor and ordained Deacon in the African Methodist Episcopal Church Sekou Laidlow was Walnut Hill's guest speaker for the Martin Luther King, Jr. assembly. Deacon Laidlow has previously portrayed Dr. King in the theatrical production of The Mountaintop and offered excerpts from the play and select speeches from Dr. King. A range of topics will be covered, including the intersection of our shared humanity, the arts, social justice, and faith. Deacon Laidlow sees his artistry as an extension of his responsibility to his community and uses his storytelling craft to empower others to tell their stories. We were happy to welcome Deacon Laidlow to our campus after Winter Break. Read more on Walnut Hill's Diversity & Inclusion initiatives
