Cathy Yun joined Walnut Hill School for the Arts in 2008 as the Head of ESL Department and Director of International Community Program. Her greatest pride is that she has been engaged in aiverse educational experience all her life, both as a student and educator. Growing up, she attended both international and local schools in Korea, Iran, and Malawi. These experiences helped form strong impetus to pursue education as a study and profession as means to making contributions toward social transformation by promoting greater bonds and interconnectedness across cultures, languages, and national/ethnic boundaries. She repatriated to Korea to attend college where she studied English Literature and later in Language Education, the experiences she defines as “surprisingly foreign and challenging”, but “ones that gave me an important perspective in globalization in education and student diversity.” She came to the U.S. in 2000 to continue her graduate study in education and received her M.S. Ed. in Intercultural Communication in 2002.  Upon completing the program she joined the faculty of Northfield Mount Hermon School in Western Massachusetts as the Director of Multicultural Community Development.
