Walnut Hill School for the Arts Announces New Head of School

Antonio Viva, new Head of SchoolNatick, Massachusetts – The Board of Trustees of Walnut Hill School for the Arts has selected Antonio Viva as the new Head of School, effective July 1, 2010. Mr. Viva is currently Associate Head of School at Worcester Academy in Worcester, Massachusetts. He earned his Masters of Arts in Teaching from Union Graduate College School of Education and his Bachelor of Arts in English from Union College, where he concentrated in Creative Writing with a minor in Theater. The announcement wraps up an exhaustive search that was first launched in May, 2009, conducted with the assistance of Educational Directions Incorporated.

“We are simply thrilled with the results of our search,” commented Betsy McClendon, President of the Board of Trustees. “We were seeking an experienced leader who can effectively engage with our enormously talented students, and who possesses the skills necessary to expand upon our success as we enter the second decade of the 21st century. Based on Mr. Viva’s extensive accomplishments, it is clear that he is that leader.”

Walnut Hill School for the Arts is a private, coeducational, boarding and day school for grades 9–post graduate attracting students from all over the world. Its educational program is designed to serve young artists who have demonstrated creative talent and a commitment to developing themselves as artists. In conjunction with intensive arts training in ballet, music, theater, visual art, and writing and publishing, the School offers a comprehensive and rigorous academic curriculum in all college-preparatory subjects.
