STUDENT SPONSORSHIP PROGRAM Make a Gift

Every September some of the finest young artists in the world come to Walnut Hill. Actors, dancers, musicians, painters, and writers, they are talented, dedicated, and full of energy, in anticipation of studying with great teachers and like-minded peers. Attending Walnut Hill is the gift that allows students to pursue their dream of mastery in the arts. That dream is contingent on obtaining necessary funding, and sponsorship often makes that dream a reality.

Student Sponsorship is a program through which people like you—Trustees, alumni, parents, and friends—make a critical difference. Gifts to this program, ranging from $500 to $25,000, help provide necessary financial support for our talented young artists.

The Student Sponsorship Program, which began informally in the late 1980s with the commitment of several of the School's Trustees, has grown steadily. This program raises over $150,000 annually to support over 30 students (10% of the student body) who could not have otherwise attended Walnut Hill. (On the whole, over 50% of the student body receives some form of financial aid.)

What is my commitment as a Sponsor?
Your support provides you with a unique opportunity to develop a friendship with one or more of our students. Your Sponsoree will write to you twice a year, and in addition to being invited to many School events, you will be notified specifically of when this student is featured. In addition, you will receive the Walnut Hill magazine to keep you informed as to all that is happening in our community.

Why become a Sponsor?
We hope you will become a Sponsor because your gift will make an invaluable impact on the life of a young artist. In a broader sense, we know you understand that the world needs people who think like artists, creatively and critically; who work like artists, with dedication and perseverance; and who live like artists, with passion and courage. Your gift will not only provide a young person with excellent artistic and academic training, but will also help the student develop the strengths of the heart, mind, and spirit that will make him or her a productive and responsible member of society. We can think of no gift more lasting, and no program more important. Please join us and become more closely involved with our community.

Fulfill the dream of a young artist by becoming a Sponsor today!

"It is so much fun for me to do what I love every day of the week. Thank you to my sponsors for this opportunity to go to such a great School."

Nia Britto '07, Theater

"As a first-year sophomore and cello major, I have already learned a lot in both my academics and music classes, in addition to being a member of the Youth Philharmonic Orchestra and continuing with Project Step. I would like to express my gratitude for you, my sponsors, and your generosity in helping make my education at Walnut Hill possible."

Tony Rymer '07, Cello

"I've always loved the rush of getting up on stage and entertaining people. I also love the fact that you can become someone totally different and do things you wouldn't dream of doing as yourself."

Ross Francis '06, Theater

"I attended the Walnut Hill Summer Program for three summers and enjoyed it so much that I decided to return for the School year. [Sponsorship support] has helped me pursue my desire for ballet."
