Teen Theater Intensive

Walnut Hill and The Center for Arts in Natick (TCAN) are pleased to offer a six-week theater intensive workshop series for teens.

Join Walnut Hill faculty for a six-week, “master class-style” workshop that builds both on-stage and auditioning skills through intensive classes in movement, acting, and musical theater.

The program is held on Walnut Hill’s campus and is taught by expert faculty and led by Walnut Hill theater faculty member Kirsten McKinney, an award-winning choreographer who has worked on over 200 shows, and has over 20 years teaching experience in the area’s most prestigious high schools and colleges.

The Fall 2016 program dates are Saturday mornings from 10:00am-2:00pm, November 5 through December 17. No auditions are required and the $495 tuition fee includes daily lunch during the six-week program. Parents are invited to the last class and a celebratory post-class reception.

PRIVATE VOCAL INSTRUCTION ADD-ON:

Students can opt to receive supplemental private vocal instruction that will include technical exercises, musical theater repertoire, and audition preparation. All lessons are scheduled outside of the typical program hours in conjunction with the instructor Gina M. Fiore, who teaches at both Walnut Hill and The Boston Conservatory. It is possible to sign up for a single supplemental lesson or for multiple lessons, depending on the student's preference.

Beginners (30 minutes): $55 per session
Intermediate/Advanced (60 minutes): $90 per session

SEE WHAT PAST PARTICIPANTS AND THEIR PARENTS HAVE SAID:

"Walnut Hill's Teen Theater Intensive introduced me to what story telling through theatrical art truly is. My peers and I shared our work with each other in a safe, supportive environment which fostered positive growth and artistic excitement. After such a wonderful experience, I couldn't imagine moving on without Walnut Hill, so I decided to apply and pursue what would be an incredible high school experience training in the arts. The Saturday class quite honestly helped me realize my dream, and I wouldn't be here without it."
- Andy Edelman '18, Former Teen Theater Participant

“Thanks again—my daughter had a blast. She really enjoyed the opportunity to practice both monologues and singing with a pro, and she enjoyed the improv games too. I can even tell the difference when she sings at home.”
