COMMUNITY ARTS TUITION-FREE WORKSHOPS: WRITING

Walnut Hill is pleased to announce a new institutional initiative.  We are hosting three free all-day Saturday workshops in Writing on November 1st, February 28th and April 4th for students from our neighboring communities.  Students will have the chance to explore not only fundamental skills, but also will work in the genres of poetry, fiction, and playwriting.  The workshop will be taught by Walnut Hill’s full-time artist/teachers.

Each session will introduce 15 area students in grades eight, nine or ten to techniques and processes of writing as practiced at Walnut Hill.  Morning sessions will introduce fundamental practices; afternoon sessions will introduce techniques in specific genres; playwriting, prose and verse.

By exposing students to our faculty and training, we hope to further their development as artists, and to expand their vision of what the study of writing can mean to them.  We also hope that being chosen for this honor will itself increase self-confidence and commitment to developing their skills under their school’s guidance.

Because enrollment is limited to 15 students, we encourage you to consider this opportunity soon. Please see links below for our application form and nomination form (must be filled out by English Teacher).

Tuition Free Workshops are open to students currently enrolled in grades 8 - 10.

For the February 28th Workshop, please send all materials in by February 1st to:
